258 engine - sleaving an engine

AMC Eagle SX/4 engine swap, 151 four cylinder to 258 six and possible transmission issues?

I have a 82 AMC Eagle SX/4 with a 3 speed auto and 151 4 cyl engine. I would like to replace the 4 cyl engine with the AMC 258 six cyl engine. How ever I do not believe that the transmission bellhousing pattern is the same for the two different engines.
