2000 Honda Civic check engine light and brake help?

Does the 2000 Honda Civic have a light for the check engine? Mine looks more like a piece of paper than a light, and is barely luminated at night. I need to know if this is normal for civics. Also, the light (paper) was red for an O2 sensor, but when
